04.28.10 - OUR SCHOOL IS BUILT!

To the right are new pictures of the completion of our small school in India, including the children who are now attending, and the members of the local NGO that we worked with to make this happen.

GIRL CHILD EDUCATION:

All of the funds raised by the Alberta Chapter of WFFC will be forwarded to the Girl Child Education project in the Fulia Village of West Bengal State, India.

To support the United Nations Millennium Development Goal, WFFC has officially partnered up with an Indian based non-governmental organization, Fulia 52
Bigha Social Development Organization (FSDO), through a legal agreement in order to implement a series of basic education initiatives for the rural and poor children of the region. The goal is to start with the construction of a rural, primary school that would put emphasis on girls.

Project Objectives:

• 1) Identification of school drop-out and illiterate rates (girls and boys) from the community self-help groups for women.

2)To provide basic education to girl child and boy child through establishment of gender based co-education school in the community (with greater emphasis on girls)

3)To provide health care facilities to school children.

4)To provide nutrition supplement to school children.

5)To provide education and recreation materials to school children.
